Indonesian Market Traders Association (IKAPPI) Bali Forms Garbage Task Force to Support The Governor of Bali Regulation Number 97/2018 Restrictions on the Generation of Single-use Plastic Waste

DENPASAR, Balitopnews.com - The Governor of Bali Regulation Number 97 of 2018 concerning Restrictions on the Generation of Single-use Plastic Waste issued by the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster to maintain the sanctity and harmony of Bali's nature and its contents, is in accordance with the vision of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali through the Planned Universal Development Pattern towards Bali New Era  has again received support from the DPW of the Indonesian Market Traders Association (IKAPPI) Bali so that it can be carried out from upstream to traditional markets on the island of Bali.

This support was conveyed directly by the Chairperson of the Bali Indonesian Market Traders Association (IKAPPI), Sudadi Murtadho in front of the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster who was accompanied by the Head of Industry and Trade Office of Bali Province, I Wayan Jarta when received by an audience on Tuesday (Anggara Pon, Ukir) April 12,02022 in the Living Room of the Bali Governor's Office, Renon, Denpasar.

The reason the IKAPPI Bali DPW has expressed its support for the Governor of Bali Regulation Number 97 of 2018 concerning Restrictions on the Generation of Single-use Plastic Waste is because IKAPPI assesses that the use of plastic bags in Traditional Markets is still ongoing and is already at an alarming level. "We have educated market traders to jointly limit the use of plastic / plastic bags, plastic straws, and styrofoam in traditional markets according to Bali Governor Regulation No. For this reason, we from DPW IKAPPI Bali will form a Plastic Waste Task Force," Sudadi Murtadho said in his report before the number one person in the Bali Provincial Government.

In addition to providing education and advice at the downstream level, DPW IKAPPI Bali also said it would focus on providing appeals to the upstream sector, namely distributors and producers of plastic bags, plastic straws, and Styrofoam. We will move, asking producers to be able to produce their products with environmentally friendly packaging in the province of Bali. If necessary, we will move to gather together to discuss this issue with distributors and manufacturers of plastic bags, plastic straws, and styrofoam. "Please support Mr. Governor of Bali," Sudadi Murtadho added.

The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster in his directive asked the Chairman of the Bali Indonesian Market Traders Association (IKAPPI), Sudadi Murtadho to seriously limit the use of plastic / crackle bags, plastic straws, and styrofoam in traditional markets. The governor of Bali, who graduated from ITB, observed several locations that he had passed during his work visits to various regions, but it turned out that the use of plastic wrap packaging was still visible. So it's time for supervision to be enforced, so that the restrictions on the use of single-use plastics continue. "For example, in religious ceremonies, at the beginning of this policy everything was published in an orderly manner, bringing offering until take holy water no one used plastic, until someone was guarded by Pecalang too. But, Now how come it's back to the way it used to be, this team should be reactivated," Koster said

Koster added that educational activities and appeals about limiting the use of single-use plastics that will be carried out by DPW IKAPPI Bali, must also be used to educate them on procedures for managing waste in source-based markets according to Bali Governor Regulation Number 47 of 2019 concerning Source-Based Waste Management and invited to implement Bali Governor Regulation Number 99 of 2018 concerning Marketing and Utilization of Bali's Local Agricultural, Fisheries and Industrial Products.

Ending his directive, the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster stated that at the beginning of the implementation of the Bali Governor's Regulation Number 97 of 2018 concerning Restrictions on the Generation of Single-use Plastic Waste, it had a very positive effect on Bali. Many new MSME players have grown up by producing plastic and Styrofoam substitute products with environmentally friendly materials, such as using bamboo straws to eco-friendly shopping bags that can be used more than once and so on. Some even display elements of art in their products, containing paintings or carvings. So, our MSME economy is alive.

"For this reason, I ask for your cooperation so that it can run, because we are all interested in a clean and healthy nature, not just me personally, but this is for nature and a healthy Balinese community. Do not seek profit, but instead sacrifice and destroy nature. I emphasize this, the goal is for farmers, fishermen, craftsmen in Bali to prosper and Bali to be clean from the threat of plastic waste," he concluded while giving appreciation for the willingness of the IKAPPI Bali DPW to support the Limitation of Single-use Plastic Waste Generation program.
